Ordway Building Supply Celebrates 50 Years with Two-Day Customer Appreciation Event

For half a century, Ordway Building Supply has been a cornerstone of southeastern Colorado, offering quality products, expert kitchen design, and the kind of personal service that only a family-owned business can provide. This October, owner Quentin Reeves and the whole OBS staff invites the community and longtime customers to celebrate their 50th anniversary with a special two-day Customer Appreciation Event.

FRIDAY EVENING KICKOFF
The celebration begins on Friday, October 10, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the showroom at 218 Main Street in Ordway. Guests are invited to stop in and enjoy music, delicious food, and the chance to mingle with the OBS team. It’s the perfect opportunity to see firsthand the showroom displays that have inspired countless dream kitchens.

SATURDAY MORNING AT THE LUMBER YARD
On Saturday, October 11, from 8:00 a.m. to noon, the festivities move to the Ordway Lumber Yard for an open house. Visitors will have a chance to tour the facilities, meet with staff, and see the wide array of building materials, tools, and home products that have made OBS a one-stop shop for generations.

Founded in 1975, Ordway Building Supply (OBS) has built a reputation for combining small-town friendliness with big-city quality. Owner Quinten Reeves has grown the business into a regional leader in kitchen design, providing expert services and high-quality products from R.D. Henry & Co. cabinetry to appliances, flooring, and specialty woodwork. Reeves has sold and installed kitchens across Colorado—including Eads, Kim, Sheridan Lake, Cheyenne Wells, Kit Carson, Lamar, Granada, Holly, and beyond—extending even into Denver, Castle Rock, Colorado Springs, Pueblo, and Trinidad, with projects reaching as far as California and the Florida Keys.

While known for its motto “We’re Building Memories One Kitchen at a Time,” OBS also supplies everything needed for construction projects—whether a complete home, a barn, or a weekend “honey-do” job. The lumber yard offers free materials estimates, contractor referrals, and a vast product line, including: All major tool brands, Blish-Mize hardware, complete line of lumber products, windows, doors, electrical and plumbing supplies, garden tools and farm supplies, Martin Senour Paints & Pratt & Lambert Paints (“The Best Paint Money Can Buy”), Minwax stains, glass and screen repair, and much more.

As Reeves puts it: “If we don’t stock it, we’ll get it and deliver it pronto. Ninety-nine percent of the time, our prices beat the big shots.”

LOOKING TO THE FUTURE
As the company celebrates its 50th year, Reeves is also looking ahead. After decades of service, he plans to retire and is seeking the next generation to carry on the OBS tradition. “It’s a perfect business for a family to run together,” Reeves says. “We’ve built something special here, and I’d love to see it continue for another 50 years.”
